Production and Well Parameters

This page defines the production, well, downhole, and derived parameters used by ESP-GUARDX. The table is based on the approved parameter workbook and should be treated as the source of truth when other manual text is ambiguous.

Production Inputs

Qflow Flow Rate Sensor (Modbus) Instantaneous fluid flow rate measured at the wellhead or downhole. Base variable for volume calculations.
fw Water Cut Fraction Sensor / User Input Fraction of water in the produced fluid. From the multi-phase meter (Mmulti) or lab data.
fo Oil Cut Fraction Sensor / User Input Fraction of oil in the produced fluid. From the multi-phase meter (Mmulti) or lab data.
fg Gas Fraction Sensor / User Input Fraction of gas in the produced fluid. If not directly measured, calculate as 1 - fw - fo.
Mmulti Multi-Phase Meter Sensor / User Input Device providing real-time phase fractions such as fw and fo. Used to separate total flow into oil, water, and gas components.

Production Calculations

Vg_day Daily Production (Gas) Calculated sum(Vfluid x fg) over a 24-hour period. Calculates gas volume from gas fraction.
Vliq_day Daily Production (Total Liquid) Calculated Vw_day + Vo_day Total liquid production, excluding gas.
Cumfluid Total Cumulative Fluid Calculated sum(Vfluid) from well startup to current moment. Running total fluid production.
Cumw Total Cumulative Water Calculated sum(Vfluid x fw) from well startup. Running water total.
Cumo Total Cumulative Oil Calculated sum(Vfluid x fo) from well startup. Running oil total.
Cumg Total Cumulative Gas Calculated sum(Vfluid x fg) from well startup. Running gas total.
Rsurface Surface Oil Rate Sensor (Modbus) Actual oil flow rate measured at the surface. Used to calibrate downhole estimates.
RtotalDH Total Downhole Rate Modbus Fluid rate converted to downhole conditions using PVT correction. Used when comparing surface rate against downhole conditions.

Pressure, Temperature, and Downhole Sensors

Tcasing Casing Temperature Sensor (Modbus) Temperature in the casing annulus. Surface/well integrity indicator.
Ttubing Tubing Temperature Sensor (Modbus) Temperature inside the production tubing. Production-flow temperature reference.
Tintake Intake Temperature Sensor (Modbus) Downhole fluid temperature at pump intake. Pump intake condition.
Tmotor Motor Temperature Sensor (Modbus) Internal temperature of the ESP motor. Motor thermal condition.
Vvib Vibration (x, y axes) Sensor (Modbus) Radial vibration of the downhole equipment. Used for mechanical health checks.
Ileak Current Leakage Calculated / Sensor Sensed ground fault or calculated leakage current. Used for insulation and ground-fault monitoring.

Derived Health and Operating Metrics

Shealth Health Score Calculated (AI) Predictive maintenance score based on historical and real-time data. Drives the dashboard health gauge.
Drun Total Running Days Calculated Sum of days where Motor Status = ON. Used for running-time summaries.
Dfail Total Failure Days Calculated Sum of days where Motor Status = FAULT. Used for reliability and downtime summaries.

Implementation Notes

  • Use Qflow as the base for fluid-volume calculations.
  • Do not calculate oil and gas production by subtracting water from total production unless the oil and gas fractions are unknown. Use fo and fg directly when available.
  • Treat Vliq_day as total liquid only. Gas is tracked separately through Vg_day and Cumg.
  • Pintake is the pump-intake pressure. Avoid using "bottomhole pressure" as a substitute unless the installation maps that value specifically to the pump intake.
  • Shealth is a predictive maintenance score, not a direct sensor measurement.
